About Suburbanmomcooks

I am a fortyish Mom of 2 kids; my daughter L is 5 and my son C is 2 1/2. And I have husband. I refer to him as DH. That stands for Dear Husband. We live happily and sustainably in the Pacific Northwest. My DH is a bike commuter regardless of the weather (I’m so proud of him!). I’m into gardening and cooking. My newest passion is raw milk. Amazing stuff!

The drastic changes in the economy; the housing market and gas prices in particular, are threatening the suburban way of life. I am looking for ways to maintain our suburban life with new ways of thinking.

To that end, we are surviving in the suburbs; trying not to spend every waking moment in the car, a grocery store or in front of a TV (unless LOST is on, yes I love LOST). We reduce, reuse and recycle. We love our neighbors and we hate our neighbors. We use a push mower instead of a gas mower. We plant native plants. Slowly but surely, we are becoming more sustainable in the suburbs.

  1. I love this site. How I’d like to get to this point to take the time to make my mark. Or to just hear myself think! It’s a great site and feels very comfortable to read. I look forward to coming back to hear more about what’s going on in your life!
